What is auto insurance?
Auto insurance assists you financially in covering vehicle damage costs in the unfortunate case of an accident. It is a paid agreement between you and your insurance provider. After filing a claim following an accident, your provider will step in and assist you in covering significant damage costs depending on what you are responsible for.
What do auto policies cover?
Georgia drivers must have liability insurance that meets the minimum limits (you can purchase more coverage if you choose) required by law to drive on our state’s public roads and highways. The minimum limits of liability insurance required under Georgia law are:
Bodily Injury Liability – $25,000 per person and $50,000 per incident
Property Damage Liability – $25,000 per incident
The perks included within the policy you choose are generally up to you, but auto policies can offer expansive benefits such as:
-
Collision Insurance: Covers damage to your own vehicle after a wreck.
-
Comprehensive Insurance: Pays for damage from non-accident mishaps, like weather damage.
-
Medical Coverage: Pays for your medical bills and those of your passengers.
-
Uninsured/underinsured Insurance: Insures you against damage caused by someone else who doesn’t have appropriate liability coverage.
Other coverage offers help for roadside assistance and rental car coverage. Contact your agent about including these protections in your coverage.
Do I Need Car Insurance?
Although car insurance can be an investment, it’s an essential one to make, for many different reasons. First, Georgia is an “at fault” state for auto insurance claims, which means you’re responsible for the damages you cause in a collision. As such, you are required by Georgia state law to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance. What’s more, if you have an auto loan or have leased your vehicle, your lender may require that you carry a minimum amount of coverage, including collision and comprehensive coverage, to approve your loan or lease.
However, only carrying the minimum required insurance is generally not enough to fully protect yourself from the high costs of a potential accident. Work with Insurance Lab. and together we can navigate your auto insurance needs and find a policy that includes the coverages you want and need.

What is the insurance company's level of service and ability to pay claims? (Some might be more convenient for you than others).
-
What discounts are available? (Ask about good driver, multiple policy and student discounts.)
-
